UNESCO Club promotes Drug Awareness campaign

To raise awareness about the harmful cause of drugs and promote ways on how to reduce its effects, The Bicol University UNESCO Club spearheaded the forum entitled “The Science of Drug Addiction 2.0” last July 12, 2016 at the BU College of Nursing Function Hall.
Demi Jeaziltynne Uvero, Vice President for Education of BU UNESCO Club at the same time the Project Manager of the said event said,
“We want to raise consciousness to the youth about the effects of certain drugs available in the market that we do not know are harmful to our health”, Uvero said
Micah James Maravillas, a Registered Pharmacist and a 3rd year student in Bicol University College of Medicine was the guest speaker.He tackled the most common drugs in the Philippines which are the Methamphetamine (Shabu) and Marijuana (Cannabis) and its effects to the human body. He also cited the reasons why an individual engage in illegal drugs and gave several ways to help a victim of drug abuse. He has also answered some questions raised by the audience coming from the different college in the university.
Moreover, Uvero expressed how important Drug Awareness is,
“The student should be aware on this certain chemicals or drugs because if they have the awareness, there will be compliance into their selves” He also added that engaging into productive activities will prevent from indulging into illegal drugs.
Furthermore, A total of 79 participants from the different campus in Bicol University attended the forum.
