BUCN ranks 2nd, 3 Albayanos placers in June NLE 2016

Bicol University College of Nursing proved again that is one of the top nursing schools in the country with having three Albayanos making it to the top ten in Nurse Licensure Examinations (NLE) last June 2016.

Out of 14,184 only 6,183 examinees passed the Nurse Licensure Examination. Garnering second place is Joszabelle Estella with an average of 86.60%, Margie Joy Red who followed notched on the eighth spot and got a rating of 85.40 % and Monette Jane Guevarra made it on the ninth rank with a rate of 85.20%.

"That was a blast. The happiness cannot be explained .It was really a very huge achievement that gave me a bliss that I never felt before," Guevarra said.

Moreso, Guevarra as one of the placers expressed her gratitude and honored to be part of BUCN,

"It was all a joint effort of all people involved. The administration and the faculty members really invested effort for us, the takers of the exam to gather this passing rate. Indeed, BUCN deserves to be at that place," she added.

Dr. Ruby Mediona, Associate Dean, BUCN also expressed, “As one of the faculty members and the administrator of Bicol University College of Nursing, we rejoice. We are happy and proud of our students”, she said.

Mediona thought that it is a real divine intervention because this year, there were only 3 BU graduates who belong to the top 10 but then Bicol University ranked as 2nd top performing school for nursing.

“Honestly, I did not expect that we would be the Top 2 Performing Nursing School, but we are really grateful and we are very proud to our students and that the performance of the school was recognized”, she added.

Mediona also encourage the students to value their education. Knowing that nursing is an expensive and difficult course, students must embrace small sacrifices and give importance to their education.

“My message to the future nurses, is that they have to live up to the expectation of humanity that nurses are expected to care. Especially, the Filipino nurses are known globally as caring nurses. They must have that TLC (Tender Loving Care) and always develop their selves personally and professionally”, Mediona added.

The university ranked 5th in the top performing schools.

Moreover, to maintain the college’s performance and enhance the students more, BUCN aims to improve the quality of instruction and make use of several teaching strategy. Other than the lectures and interactive discussion.
